Introducing Amber

The title of this post isn't really accurate.  I have talked about Amber before.  She is my dear friend that I met in October on a Visiting Orphans trip.  She is going to live in Kenya in July at Haven of Hope.  She is single lady adopting her first child while there.  She is on the board of Hope Grafted In.

She just began her blog journey.  With the way she follows God with her life it is bound to be a good read!  I especially like this post she wrote as it explains all about Hope Grafted In, which I haven't taken time to update on here about yet!

Praying for a new friend

Had the opportunity to pray for a sweet friend we met at a guesthouse in Kampala, Uganda. Please take some time and read this blog and pray for Linny and her family to finish up and get home soon.

So cool to witness first hand the Lord answer prayer in this way.

this little boy needs all of us!

Some of my dear friends are about to take a HUGE step in the crazy journey of adoption.  They are headed South tomorrow morning to their new son.  God is in the business of placing the lonely in families, and He is fulfilling that promise for an adorable little 16 month old boy and his new FOREVER family.

The FOREVER family going to get their son tomorrow!

This family has been working hard at raising funds since the time God placed adoption on their hearts a year ago, but their adoption still needs around $27000 to be complete and bring the little guy home.  This number seems so big and intimidating and unreachable.  But we know that with God all things are possible, and money is the least of His worries.

God's people, we need you to be generous.  We need you to put your money where your faith is and show the world what living for God and OTHERS looks like.

To donate through check or cash, e-mail me.  To donate online use this Chip-in.

No more waiting.  They are leaving in the morning!  He is waiting for them.  Get giving.

new blog find

I like to find new bloggers to follow.  Especially when they challenge me.  The director of the organization I am going to Africa with, Visiting Orphans, is one such lady.

introducing Jeana

I read a lot of blogs.  Not going to lie, I sometimes can be addicted to reading people's hearts and stories.  But today I am so excited to share a new blogger that is close to my heart.  Partly because  she is my cousin, but also because her heart beats in sync with mine...such a cool connection that is.

As you read her honest struggles and hopes I hope you see God at work in her and are challenged.

Look at her beautiful family that God is in the process of growing through adoption.

Prayer

I come across a lot of things through this blog world, but today I couldn't sit the computer down without sharing what this family...a family I don't even know...is going through right now in their lives.

To sum up what little I know of them, they moved from California to Indy to plant a church in 2010.  There 2nd child, Jaxton, was born at the end of February and has been diagnosed with Trisomy 18 and they remain in NICU in Indy.

Their family blog is here.

I don't get things like this.  I am reading about how they are following God and planting a church.  They are in His will, serving Him, doing a whole lot more than most of us believers.  Why would something like this come and disrupt all that?  But even in typing that I know that He has a plan.  He loved Jaxton before He breathed life into him.  He loves these parents and feels their sadness, their hope, their weariness.  I don't have to understand His ways to trust in them.

Please pray for them today.  Pray that God will heal Jaxton.  Pray that these parents will have strength.  Pray that God's story will continue to be evident to all as He receives glory and honor.

Avery Gage

Oh my goodness...I love how God works and am forever amazed.   I frequent this fun website ETSY.COM that is all handmade items quite often.  I love shopping for unique things and there are some great things on this site!

The quest for Macy's birthday outfit led me to a new favorite shop and to an unexpected surprise from its owner.  First, the onesie, socks and headband she made are ADORABLE.  You will see when I post birthday pictures what I mean!  The care and service that this lady showed were SO above and beyond they made me sit up and take notice.  I mean WAY more than your average business owner!

Then today I get a message from her and the words this sweet mommy had for me were such a blessing and encouragement.  I love that God can bring friends in the most absurd and unconventional ways.  So check out my new favorite thing...

Want a free vacation?

Check out this post, originally found here at my friend's blog, and then reach out to them and help bring their kids home!

I LOVE it when families get CREATIVE with their adoption fundraising. This one made me smile. This precious family is willing to do WHATEVER it takes to bring a child home. They have stepped out of the boat and said YES to God and to TWO waiting angels on Reeses Rainbow who are both HIV+. Oh my heart!!!

They are planning to leave in just 18 days and need God to come through in a big way with between $8-10,000 more. Let's be God's hands and feet. Let's support each other in the work God is having us all do. I cannot imagine being alone in this world andfacing a death sentence without the proper medical care. Children with HIV can live almost the same life expectancy as everyone else when receiving adequate medical care. Let's wrap our arms around this beautiful family and show them God's love as they bring these precious gifts home.

Won't you consider helping them out and at the same time YOU are given the chance to be the lucky winner of a 7 night Stay at Sand Castle One Condominiums in Indian Shores Florida!!!

Responsible to act

Doing lots of thinking and reading today. I keep reading this scripture over and over and over. Trying to see if God is really saying to me what I think He is. Yikes! What does He say to you when you read it?

Proverbs 24:12 paraphrased--Once our eyes are opened we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know and holds us responsible to act.

There are so many wonderful stories out there of people that God is working in and through once He opens their eyes and moves them to act. Here are a couple that speak to me and keep me humbled and convicted...

Check out this song that I keep listening to.

Check out this blog about all God is doing through one young girl, Katie!
