update

We are basically in a waiting game. Waiting for Gaby's body to ride out this illness. It is becoming more evident as many tests come back negative (which is good :) that she caught the common cold, but with her low reserve in her lungs it turned into pneumonia. Her numbers aren't any better on the ventilator. As a matter of fact, they are better off of it. But she has so much junk in her lungs that she would struggle to breath without it, so for now, it breaths for her. So she can rest and get better.

I am very satisfied with the staff here. They quickly listened to my history of Gaby and knowing that her numbers are never going to be ideal for the clinical purposes they are typically looking for. Every 12 hours as new staff emerge, I get to restate her case. So far, so good in that regard.

So we will be waiting. I imagine we will be here throughout next week. Pray for quickened healing and for us to know when to push for extubation and less sedation so she can try breathing again on her own. Also for us to find the balance of being with her and with the rest of the family and being ok with all of that.
