Check out a post at We Are Grafted In by yours truly.  I removed this from my blog after posting because it was a little too raw, even for me.  So, read at your own risk!

  1. I thought it was a beautiful post. I think it is full of real emotion, real feelings, and real love - both for that little angel and for our God. You are human Shelley and so is that little Macy. It is natural for you to get frustrated when you know she can do more and it is normal for her to be sad when people are testing her will. You are a wonderful mother and I can't wait to see the story God has written for Macy and for you and your entire family. Love you all!

  2. I dont think it was too raw for your blog. It is comforting to know that I am not the only one struggling with the journey that God has for us. I wish I could make your journey easier. I so wish we lived closer so we could weather these storms together. I am sorry that Macy is struggling more than I realized. I will be praying daily for her development and your strength and hope. God gave her to you because he knew you were the BEST mommy for her. Dont ever forget that. So much love to you!

  3. Hi, Shelley. I don't know if either you or your therapist has thought about aquatherapy or not - or if it's even an option for your situation, but I wanted to share our experience with you. As you know, Rebecca was somewhat "delayed" due to her illness at such a young age. She had therapies (OT, PT, and ST) provided through FirstSteps. Our PT worked for Turnstone where they have a pool for aquatherapy. I believe Becca was about 11 months old when Kathy (our PT) decided we should try one of our PT sessions at the Turnstone pool. Becca had a blast, and it was actually the first time she stood on her own. She then stood again on her own outside the water at their play area.
You are doing an amazing job, Shelley. I just wanted to offer this suggestion to see if it might be helpful.

  4. Thank you Julie. Our FirstSteps PT also has tried water therapy at Spiece. The immediate problem is she is so angry/frustrated/upset during therapy that she won't do anything. The PT can't even look at her, talk to her, or touch her without Macy SCREAMING. She is so patient and wonderful and could be teaching Macy so much if she'd just chill out. I pray that she will soon. For now, I do the things the therapist would be doing if Macy allowed it, FULLY KNOWING that I am not a PT and are probably not doing them quite right! Swimming with Daddy a lot last week on Spring Break seems to have strengthened a lot. She is rocking on all 4s and doing a lot more standing! Thanks for your sweet comments!
