10

My head is spinning this morning. My mind is searching and finding memories, thoughts, and emotions that I felt 10 years ago today.

Today Shelley and I celebrate 10 years of marriage.

I remember the first time I saw Shelley walking into class our junior year of high school.

I remember Shelley being late for our date because of a malfunction at the hair salon, not knowing that I had a ring in my pocket and a plan that had to be adjusted.

I remember telling a friend in college that Shelley and I got engaged and being able to tell that he just didn't get it.

I remember loving 4 years of college, but anxiously waiting to be done so we could get married.

I remember a rehearsal dinner that didn't go as planned.

I remember sitting in an ER until 3AM the morning of our wedding with one of my groomsman that was sick.

I don't remember much of the day of the wedding...it seems to have blurred together.

But I do remember one thing, I remember when I got to enter Shelley's room and see her. I still remember how beautiful she was in that white dress and hair pulled up. I remember our time together, the emotions we felt - the love we had for each other, the excitement of what's to come, and the realization that the day was finally here.

Now 10 years later, I think about the stages in our life that we have walked through and I am amazed. God has had his hand on our marriage and protected us. Shelley and I dreamed and God dreamed bigger. We tried to guess what our lives would be like, God knew.

10 years ago I loved a girl and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.

Today I love a girl and 5 beautiful kids....and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

  1. Gabe - you big teddy bear... wait, I think I need a kleenex.

Seriously, the only thing better than getting to live out God's story is getting to do it with the one you love most. You guys are awesome! Enjoy your day!
