The good news is that yesterday Gaby was taken off the ventilator and she responded beautifully. I've talked to the medical staff and all say that she is looking great. They will continue to focus on strengthening her lungs and have increased her feeding to help her put on weight. If she continues to do well, we can start setting a target discharge date....which could be next week.
After a disappointing day yesterday, Macy had a good day today. All of the test results that were run yesterday had good results. The doctors have made some adjustments to her feedings and have increased her breathing treatments. We are moving toward discharge again...hopefully tomorrow.
A friend encouraged me to read Psalms 34 today. The entire passage was refreshing, but this portion was especially fitting. Thank you, God, for helping us catch our breath.
From The Message:
17Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you.
18If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there; if you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath.19Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there every time.20He's your bodyguard, shielding every bone; not even a finger gets broken.21The wicked commit slow suicide; they waste their lives hating the good.22God pays for each slave's freedom; no one who runs to him loses out.
