new babies

Macy is no longer the baby of the family.  I am no longer the only momma in the house.

Our little 5 lb. Malshie (Maltese/Shih Tzu mix) had puppies!  Early Sunday morning, we came downstairs and heard some squeaking and there they were.

One of the purposes for having Stella have puppies was to teach the kids more about the circle of life.  So far all they learned is that Stella is Super Woman, having those puppies all alone at night and none of us even knowing!

She is quite the momma, ever attentive and nervous about anyone looking at her little ones.  She makes sure the runt gets close to her and plenty of milk.  One had a little sore, and she licked and licked it and now it is healed.  So sweet that God designed animals to have that mothering sense as soon as they are mothers.  She never had it before!  The kids are anxious for them to do something besides sleep and eat!

We have 5, 3 girls and 2 boys.  Started with 6, but one little one had a cleft palate and lived 2 days.  That story was another life lesson and quite the parenting moment, but I will save that for another day.

For today, here is the new momma and her litter.
