warning, this is a long one. and, yes, those are tanning bed eye protectors on Macy...you get bored all day in a hospital.
It is amazing to me how waking up in the morning brings new hope. I guess the Psalmist wasn't out of his mind when he wrote, "Today is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it." I imagine he wrote this when he woke up after a day of emotional turmoil and felt the sunshine and remembered that His God is God.
The encouragement that has poured into our lives over the last 24 hours has been providential. So many words from the Bible, so many thoughts and prayers. I am humbled that our pain and emotional mess can invoke all of you to respond in the ways you do. You have been Christ to us, in reminding us of what and who He is, you have helped the light come through.
In case some of you may struggle today with needing strength, I am going to share some words my dad and my friend both shared with me...
II Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me.
The familiar words of Paul come to mind, let us not become weary in doing good for in due season we will reap. God of course knows all so it doesn't surprise me that He would have the insight to know that in our human weakness we will become weary while doing good. It also reminds me of Peter walking on the water, when he refocused on the danger around him he began to sink. I know it isn't easy, but accept the challenge of standing in the gap for Gaby. Her need today is greater than any of ours. God is certainly able, is not lacking in love for her, and has fathomless grace for her. I can't understand, but I will rest in his infinite power, love, and grace. Loving always involves the risk of pain, certainly this is seen in the life of Christ. I will continue to ask for healing and wait on the Lord.
So, consider yesterday's darkness and blogging, me boasting about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on us and He will receive all glory for what He is doing here for Gaby! Off to wait and hope in the Lord...
